How it works

One word before the scroll.

Set it up once and Linguease sits in front of Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Reddit and Facebook. Nothing else about your phone changes.

  1. A home screen with Instagram and TikTok on it.
    01

    You tap Instagram.

Same icon, same habit, no change to your home screen. The gate is a Shortcuts automation you set up once and then forget.

  2. Linguease asking for the Portuguese for cool, with legal typed in.
    02

A word gets in the way.

Cool, and you type legal. Get it wrong and it shows you the answer rather than making a thing of it.

  3. Instagram open on the phone, a moment later.
    03

    You carry on.

Two seconds later Instagram opens and you scroll like you were going to anyway. One word better off, and nothing to keep up with.

A separate feature

There is also a home-screen widget.

Nothing to do with the gate, and it works on its own. Add the Linguease widget to your home screen in small, medium or large, and it holds one word in front of you between openings. It changes colour on a spaced-repetition cycle so it never quietly becomes wallpaper. Twenty-four themes, and words you have nailed rotate out.

Free to try

Add a few words. Open Instagram. See what happens.

The widget is free. The rest is a quiet subscription, cancel any time.
